I wanted to say a special thank you to
everyone that took the time to write to our nations politian’s on our behave to
let them know our story and asked for assistance. We also appreciate all of you that send us an
e-mail or left comments on our blog letting us know your support. It was wonderful to have so much support and
to hear that so many people felt strongly about the issue. We loved hearing so many people tell loving
stories and memories about my grandmother.
It has been an emotional week for my family
with lots of highs and lows, but I’m happy to report that the story has a happy
ending. We were shocked to have such
quick and personal responses from Senator McCaskill, Congressman Moore's,
Congressman Brownback, Senator Reid, and the Women in Military Memorial
Foundation. My parents will be leaving
tomorrow for Washington DC to attend the Congressional Gold Medal
ceremony. They will be personally
escorted to and from the ceremony by Senator McCaskill’s office and have
personal meeting with Senator McCaskill herself afterwards.
This effort has restored my faith in our
nation’s leaders. It's good to know that the American system that our founding
fathers dreamed up so many years ago still works today; that one little voice
can be spoken freely and be heard!
