We were fortunate to have another visiting author come to Schutz. Her name is Michele Serros, a Mexican-American author from California. She is actually a personal friend of the Bob and Ana Medina, our art and drama teachers, and came with her husband Dean to visit Bob and Ana in Egypt and travel to Morocco with them for Christmas break. While she was here she was gracious enough to do a presentation for our students the last day before break. However, just like when Tom Palmer was here, the school was shut down due to H1N1 and there were no students around for our visiting author to present to. We’ve decided the best way to combat this H1N1 virus is to stop inviting authors to our school.
Michele was a lot of fun to meet. She is so kind, fun, very out-going and a little eccentric! Check out her website to see what I mean http://www.muchamichele.com/ Michele was named News Weeks “One of the Top Young Women to Watch in the New Century” She has written for many national newspapers, magazines and was also a writer for “The George Lopez Show”. She currently has four books out:
Chicana Falsa- a collection of short stories and poems
How to be a Chicana Role Model
Honey Blonde Chica- the first in her Honey Blonde series
Scandalosa!- second in the series
